The Infectious Diseases Society of America (www.idsociety.org), a national medical association representing more than 12,000 physicians/scientists with a highly-respected voice in infectious diseases policy and advocacy, clinical and scientific affairs is seeking exceptional candidates for our Learning and Talent Manager opening. 

Reporting to the Vice President of Talent and Organizational Development, this position will manage learning and talent management activities to support organizational priorities. For the first year, the incumbent will spend approximately 50% of their time on learning and development activities and the remainder of the time on recruitment and other generalist activities. After year one, the incumbent will maintain the learning and development function and will spend more time on generalist responsibilities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage learning and development life cycle activities that support professional development, including inclusion and diversity subject matter:

    • Develop learning paths
    • Develop and deliver training activities, courses and materials (i.e. supervisory, inclusion and diversity and professional skills)
    • Develop library of learning resources for managers and staff
  • Perform full life cycle recruitment: (create job descriptions, place job ads, collect resumes, conduct interviews); track applicant data and related recruitment activities for reporting purposes 
  • Partner proactively with colleagues to create and implement policies and programs (such as guides, checklists, recognition) including those that advance inclusion, diversity, access and equity goals
  • Assist with creating and implementing Talent Management practices and processes
    • Research options that advance inclusion, diversity, access and equity (IDA&E) goals
    • Collect, compile and analyze data, implement surveys, create and manage communications
    • Produce progress reports to measure impact
  • Benchmark, develop and manage activities and programs that promote staff engagement and empowerment


Other Responsibilities

  • Assist with compensation and employee relations activities as needed
  • Conduct job analyses as needed

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Four years of relevant experience supporting a human resources or talent management function
  • Two years’ relevant training (content development and delivery) experience with working knowledge of adult learning principles, learning program development experience is desirable
  • Solid understanding of inclusion, diversity, access and equity principles; specific experience implementing diversity and inclusion practices is desirable
  • Industry knowledge of learning and development practices
  • Human Resources policy development and implementation experience is desired
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and high standards in exercising confidentiality and trustworthiness
  • Sound critical thinking, research, project and process management experience
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to generate accurate and timely reports to support business needs
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
